Il film nasce dal videogioco per PC Dungeon Siege (ideato da Chris Taylor) a cui si ispira, introducendo diverse varianti.Il film è stato girato vicino a Sooke, una località vicina a Victoria, la capitale della British Columbia nel Canada. Abitanti del posto sono stati reclutati per le comparse, e anche aborigeni canadesi (Prime nazioni).
Il film è stato accolto male dalla critica, come molti altri film di Uwe Boll, che però finora aveva girato solo film a basso costo. Non si sa ancora se recupererà i costi; comunque avrà un'edizione estesa su DVD della durata di 165 minuti.
